Create your own pocket garden of native plant species! In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore the wonderful world of native plants while learning about plant selection, basic small-scale design principles, and how to execute a design.
We'll focus on modular, small-scale designs that you can easily implement in your own space. Using the 50+ plants available from IMAGINE Native Plant Farm as your palette, you'll walk away with a list of native plants curated to your site's conditions and aesthetic interests, along with an understanding of how to incorporate them into your space through a hands-on group activity.
Registration Fee: $49
Registration includes 10% off plants from IMAGINE Native Plant Farm through November 14, 2026.

About the Instructor
Kate is an ecological landscape designer and co-author of Designing Gardens with Flora of the American East. Kate holds a Certificate in Landscape Design from the New York Botanical Garden. In 2015, she accepted an eight month position as a horticulture and propagation intern with the Native Plant Trust (formerly New England Wild Flower Society) at their native plant nursery Nasami Farm. There she focused on seed collection and cleaning, propagation, and contract growing of forbs, ferns, grasses and sedges, shrubs and trees for conservation and restoration efforts. After leaving Namsami, she worked for four seasons at the Manitoga Historic Home, maintaining the largely native gardens and giving landscape tours. In 2016, Kate started Front Stoop Gardens to provide ecological landscape design and gardening services specializing in native plants across the greater Capital Region & beyond. She has worked with residential clients, colleges, and corporations. Kate holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Skidmore College.
